If wedding is the question… we have answers! We love helping Toronto couples research and prepare for their wedding.
Here are some of the most common things to think about:
- First… are you ready for the big step?
Of course, being in love and looking forward to the future together is the most wonderful thing in the world. You are a great team, you trust each other, you make each other happy. Perhaps it’s time to start thinking about marriage.
On the other hand… life can get a little complicated. And marrying the right person will make it easier. So here’s the crux of the matter. How do you know if your significant other is the right person? Or, perhaps a better question is, how do you know that you wouldn’t be marrying the wrong person?
- Looking to get an engagement ring and propose?
Marriage is a way to declare your love and commitment to the world… and an engagement ring, along with a proposal, are first steps along that way.
It’s a good idea to research your diamonds. The toughest and most beautiful material in the world, they are endlessly symbolic of the commitment you propose to make. But if you are (or have to be) pragmatic about it, you might want to look into affordable engagement ring options as well.
Then you might want to think about the proposal. Off-their-feet-romantic, or down-to-earth pragmatic – whatever you choose, it should reflect who you are and how you want your beloved to remember this day.
Almost immediately after the proposal, couples usually start looking into budgeting resources and planning timelines. That’s a good approach: you want to plan ahead, both in terms of money and in terms of time, because a wedding will require both.
- Looking for a wedding venue in Toronto?
This is the part where your dreams can come true! Your choice of venue will reflect your unique vision and transport you into your own personal fairy tale.
Of course, as you get the creative juices flowing, you may notice that venue research is taking a bit of time. So, to help you, we prepared reviews of many interesting venues that you may want to consider. Some are historic or architectural venues, then there are green and summery outdoor venues, yet others are waterfront venues, and then there are classy yet affordable venues.
- Researching wedding dresses and bridal accessories?
It’s one of our favorite subjects… and so we got lots of resources for you here. Start with the lookbook of various wedding dress silhouettes and necklines, then consider the type of wedding dress right for you. If you like one-of-a-kind things, then check our article on custom wedding dresses.
Careful styling will make you the most beautiful bride, but none of the outer beauty tricks will do if you don’t feel it on the inside. That’s why we like to close this section with some inspiration about loving yourself.
- Selecting a photographer?
Is anyone with a camera a good wedding photographer?
A wedding is a day of beauty, emotions and chaos. You want your photographer to capture all of the beauty and emotions, despite the chaos and the tight timelines. And then, you want the pictures to look good and interesting. Take a look at selecting a wedding photographer.
Do you worry that photographs won’t do you justice? Many people feel awkward around a camera because they believe that they don’t look good on pictures. While some people seem to have it naturally, looking photogenic is a bit of a learned skill that we can look at together. And an engagement photo session is a great opportunity to practice it.
- Deciding on reception entertainment?
When was the last time you walked away from a friend’s wedding and thought, ‘Wow, this was fun’? Is that still the wedding you remember most vividly?
Everything about your reception will be mesmerizingly pleasant to the eye. But, surprisingly, the ‘fun’ part is sometimes a mere afterthought in wedding planning. Don’t take fun for granted!
What about the MC? That’s the person you will want to say the right thing, at the right time, to draw the crowd into a collective ‘Awww…’ There is energy coming from the person behind the microphone, and that energy will stay with your guests as they walk out of the venue at the end of the night with (hopefully) big smiles on their faces. Selecting a wedding MC is important.
We hope that, on our pages, you will find a lot of useful information. We will help you with your decisions, so you can focus on your love and enjoy your happiness!
